May the forks be with you!

Darth is evil inside and out!

NYC subway train cake

I made this cake for Maria’s birthday celebrations this past weekend. I used a silicone square cake tin and bake one vanilla sponge and one chocolate sponge using doubled up quantities of the sponge cake recipe from the side of the Silverspoon sugar bag http://www.silverspoon.co.uk/home/recipes/15/fairy-cakes (it’s the most reliable recipe ever!). Once the cakes had cooled I cut them in half to make long narrow rectangles. I then stacked three layers on top of one another and ‘glued’ in place with butter cream. I then cut the final rectangle in half and put ‘glued’ those in place to make the cake a longer more train carriage shape. I then covered the whole thing in butter cream and covered the whole cake in ready rolled white icing to create my canvas.
To decorate I used PME edible lustre spray in silver for the main body of the train. I cut a stencil to help me mark out the graffiti lettering. I then used the PME edible lustre spray in red, pink and blue to do the graffiti. The outlines are painted using Wiltons black liquid icing colour. To finish I painted the windows and details in using edible tints and rejuvenator liquid. This was so much fun to make and it made the birthday girl very happy (as you can see!)

Jack Daniels cake

I made this cake in May 2011 for a funeral. The cake was a chocolate sponge laced with a lot of Jack Daniels. The bottle is covered in chocolate butter cream. The label is black ready to roll icing and I painted the lettering on using white edible tint and rejuvenator liquid.

C is for...

Then in January 2011 I decided to make this to bring to a dinner at my friend’s house…
Red velvet cake, pink butter cream, pink icing, liquorice pubes, marshmallow tampon and cake fake blood!!

Snip, snip the Blitz kids

In September 2010 my friend Cait had a party for the closing of her salon. So I made some red velvet cupcakes with silver icing scissors to add to the nibbles. It was a brilliant night with lots of Jaggering!

A B.I.G birthday cake!

In July 2010 I thought I’d attempt a bit of a challenge and made Maria a Notorious B.I.G cake. I think she liked it!! The face is 3D relief on a back ground of silver balls bling.

Peppa Pig birthday cake

In May 2010 I baked a Peppa Pig cake for my boss’s daughter’s fifth birthday.

Purple Rain record cake

Then for a joint birthday party with David and his sister Maria. I made a King Boo for Maria and a Mr Bump for David. July 2009

My first caking

Cakey beginnings! It all started in July 2008 with a Mario mushroom cake for David. Just coloured buttercream and black icing from a tube for outlines and eyes.
